Mail and Package Delivery at a Houston Office: Set Up the Handoff Before Move-In

Before sending business mail to a new Houston office, confirm the exact address format, where each type of delivery goes and who can receive it when you are away. A leased room, a mailing address and a staffed package-receiving service are different arrangements. Do not assume one automatically includes the others.

The issue is easy to miss on a tour. You see a desk and an entrance, but your business may also receive signed documents, replacement equipment and ordinary supplies. Those deliveries need a reliable handoff, especially if you spend part of the week at client locations.

Get the Address Format From Management

Ask for the address exactly as it should appear on an envelope or shipping label, including the business name and any assigned suite or unit number. Do not invent a suite number to distinguish your company. Confirm how the building identifies tenants to carriers and whether there is a separate delivery entrance.

USPS's package-addressing instructions include the recipient's full name or company name and an apartment or suite number when applicable. Use the confirmed address consistently in vendor accounts, purchase orders and shipping profiles. An old saved checkout address can defeat an otherwise careful move.

Postal delivery details do not establish whether an address qualifies for every online business listing. If that is part of your decision, use the separate Google Business Profile address guide and check the rules for your actual business operation.

Follow Three Different Deliveries

Ask management to explain what happens to an ordinary letter, a small parcel and an item requiring a signature. The routes may differ. Letters might go to an assigned box while a courier needs someone at the office door. A place to leave parcels is not necessarily a monitored receiving service.

  • Letters: Who has the key or access credential, and when can you collect them?
  • Parcels: Where are they left, who can enter that area, and how do you learn that one has arrived?
  • Signature items: Is anyone authorized and willing to accept them for your business? What happens if that person is absent?

Houston providers advertise different combinations of these services. Lyric Works' published package options, reviewed October 15, 2026, describe mail handling as a named service. That illustrates why it should be checked explicitly; it does not establish a receiving service at another property.

Plan for the Days Nobody Is There

If you work away from the office, name the person responsible for checking deliveries and the backup when that person is unavailable. Decide how often mail needs to be collected based on your business, rather than assuming a weekly visit will suit every document.

For an important shipment, arrange the handoff before ordering. Confirm the carrier's available delivery options directly and tell the recipient the expected day. Do not rely on a driver calling your mobile number or on a neighboring tenant accepting a package as an informal favor.

Ask whether there are limits on parcel size, storage time or unattended deliveries. Furniture and large equipment may need separate arrangements. A recurring supply order should not become a stack of cartons in a shared corridor. Connect these details to your move-in plan before scheduling shipments.

Keep Sensitive Deliveries Out of Shared Spaces

Describe any handling requirements without disclosing private client information. Ask whether a delivery can remain in a secured location until your staff collect it. Where the building's process does not meet your needs, arrange direct receipt by your own team or another suitable delivery option.

Document who is authorized to receive business items, and keep that list current when staff change. For a delivery with legal, contractual or professional consequences, have the responsible adviser determine the required handling. A general package procedure should never be mistaken for advice about service of legal documents or a guarantee that a deadline has been met.

Bring Your Delivery Pattern to the Tour

Tell the 2019 Washington team how often you receive mail, what kinds of parcels arrive and when someone will usually be present. Ask what arrangements apply to the available office and what you would need to organize yourself. This article does not promise reception, forwarding, scanning or package storage at the property.

Send an inquiry or call (713) 224-5529 to discuss a suite and schedule a viewing. A clear delivery process is a small part of the lease conversation that can prevent a lot of interrupted work later.
